The Tokina 100mm F2.8 is my go too lens for macro photography . I enjoy taking flowers and plants getting close up and seeing the detail and structure it is so much fun and I find it relaxing with my location only 40 steps from my back door.
I got the lens following a hefty Christmas hint to my wife . Selected only after a fair bit of research , it was difficult to find a negative view on this lens , those I found centred on the noise and clunky nature of the auto focus and lack of image stabilization. These are just supporting features most critical requirement for me was its optical performance, for this it’s amazing , it produces bonkers sharp images, stunning .
Its built like a tank solid combination of metal and plastic and contradicts the view “if its heavy it must be expensive”, this lens punches way above its weight for its price, ranges in the UK from £230 to £350
The Tokina 100mm offers all you need for Macro photography and isn’t too shabby as a portrait lens you won’t be disappointed
